We’ll extend Free TAFE to all Victorians

Labor promised to save TAFE, reopen and upgrade campuses, and introduce Free TAFE - and that's exactly what we've done.

While the Liberals cut and closed TAFEs, we've put over 70 courses on the Free TAFE list and helped thousands of Victorians get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

A re-elected Labor Government will do even more.

We'll expand eligibility for Free TAFE - so all Victorians can study for in-demand jobs like healthcare, mental health, construction, early childhood and hospo.

Currently, Victorians who have higher qualifications can't access Free TAFE - we'll remove that limit so all Victorians can attend TAFE for free.

We'll also change the once-in-a-lifetime limit, so Victorians can take multiple Free TAFE courses, when they are continuing select training pathways.

We'll also build and upgrade TAFE campuses across the state, so Victorians can continue to study in quality facilities.

As part of our plan to end reliance on coal and revive the SEC – creating 59,000 jobs in clean energy – we will make sure at least 6,000 of those jobs are apprentices and trainees.

And we're getting our TAFEs ready to train them.

Our first investment from the Clean Energy TAFE Fund will support Gippsland TAFE, South West TAFE and Federation TAFE with a range of initiatives focused on renewable energy jobs.

And we'll change the law to protect TAFE funding - so TAFE can never be cut again. Free TAFE is helping us train Victorians so we can continue the Big Build and grow our economy.

Labor backs TAFE, because Labor backs Victorian workers.
