Labor’s plan to keep the lights on - and bills down.

Thirty years ago, Matthew Guy's Liberals sold off our energy networks to private multinationals.

They increased prices, sacked workers and they've charged Victorians $23 billion – far more than they paid.

They've made huge profits and power bills have skyrocketed. Now, their privatised coal power plants are getting old, breaking down and closing.

Labor has a plan to keep the lights on – and bills down.

We will end reliance on privatised coal and transition Victoria to cleaner, cheaper renewable electricity by 2035 – creating thousands of jobs.

We’ll bring back the State Electricity Commission (SEC), re-establishing government owned energy and building renewables. The government will hold a majority interest in each of these projects – meaning Victorians will be back in control of our energy supply.

And any profits will go into keeping power bills down.

We'll step up to 95% renewable electricity by 2035 and reach net zero emissions by 2045.

We’ll also install 100 neighbourhood batteries across Victoria – creating localised energy storage.

Only Labor will bring back the SEC, powering our state with cheaper, cleaner, renewably energy.

Not for profit – but for people.

Because only Labor is doing what matters.
