We’ve removed 67 level crossings - and we’re not slowing down.

They’re dangerous, they’re congested - and we’re getting rid of them.

So far we’ve removed 67 level crossings, and built new stations and public space along the way.

It reduces congestion, and improves travel for people who use public transport, walk, cycle or drive. Plus it has created thousands of good jobs during construction.

But there’s more to do.

Labor will remove 110 level crossings by 2030.

We’ll remove:

  • 2 level crossings, making the Sunbury Line level crossing free

  • 8 level crossings on the Upfield Line, making Brunswick level crossing free

  • 1 level crossing on the Hurstbridge Line, making Macleod level crossing free

  • 4 level crossings between the city and Melton, making Melton level crossing free

  • 7 level crossings, making the Frankston Line level crossing free

  • 3 level crossings, making the Werribee Line level crossing free

In 2018 we promised to remove 85, and we’re ahead of schedule.

Here’s the crossings that we’ll remove to take us to 110 gone by 2030:
