More parking for commuters
There’s nothing worse than getting to the station and finding the car park completely full.
When you’re trying to get to work or just get on with your day, it’s the last thing you need.
It’s why Labor will make life just that little bit easier for commuters, building over 11,000 new spaces at some of our busiest metropolitan and regional train stations.
With around 55,000 station spaces currently across the state, it’ll deliver a 20 per cent boost in available parking.
Delivered as part of our $150 million Car Parks for Commuters Fund, the extra spaces will also unclog neighbouring streets and alleviate the need for ‘car park hopping’ - driving from station to station just to find a space.
In addition to the new parking, Labor will also make our stations even safer and more accessible for commuters with new lighting, security and signage.
Stations to benefit include:
Cranbourne, with at least 400 extra car parks, bringing the total number of spaces to over 1000
Dandenong, with at least 150 new car parks
Lynbrook, with at least 135 new car parks
Pakenham, where parking will be more than doubled with an extra 450 spaces
Frankston, with 500 brand new car spaces
Merlynston, with up to 355 new and upgraded car parks
Beaufort, with at least 40 brand new and upgraded car parks
Wyndham Vale, Werribee, Watergardens and Tarneit, with up to 1,600 new and upgraded car parks
Caroline Springs, with 400 new and upgraded car parks
Deer Park, with 150 new and upgraded car parks
Mooroolbark, with up to 450 new and upgraded car spaces
Watergardens, with 579 new and upgraded car parks
Aircraft in Laverton, with 100 new and upgraded car parks
North Shore in Geelong, with 200 new and upgraded car parks.
Even more communities will benefit from this investment, which builds upon the nearly 10,000 new and upgraded spaces delivered by the Andrews Labor Government over the past four years.
Only Labor will help make the morning commute a little smoother – and your day a little easier.
